Every job interview is about being judged, at least partially, by how you present yourself.
Technology
If you are applying for a technical position, you may not need a suit.
A collared shirt and khakis or slacks can work. Same goes for women; sweater or blouse and slacks or a skirt.
But upgrade your attire if interviewing for a higher-level job. Dress in the best clothes you have, no exceptions.
Government
A conservatively colored suit is best for a government job interview. Show responsibility, trustworthiness, and honesty.
A bit of color is OK.
Be conservative with jewelry, makeup and hairstyles.
One industry's excess is another industry's underdressed. So don't be afraid to ask, because no matter what, presentation counts.
That presentation includes the little things. It's all in the details, for example, shoes should be in excellent condition.
You do not get a second chance to make a first impression. |
